Enrollment at NECA is open year-round while space is available. For the coming 2027-2028 school year, applications will be available online at the beginning of January for new and returning students.
Required documents include a completed application, a transcript or report card for the previous school year, immunization records, the student’s birth certificate, and a medical physical.
NECA requires that a child’s immunization records or an official exemption from the Texas Department of State Health Services be on file with the school office before the first day of school. The school office can assist families in completing the process for an exemption.
The average class size at NECA is 9 students with a maximum class size of 15. We are committed to keeping classes small, so students receive individualized care and support.
Students in grades K-12 are tested each spring using the IOWA battery of tests. The IOWA tests are norm-referenced tests that allow teachers to see how their students are learning compared to students nationwide and to adapt instruction to address student needs.
NECA uses an online platform called FACTS that allows parents to see grades, homework, and other student records. Through FACTS, parents can also manage their student accounts, make payments, and apply for financial aid. Regular emails keep families up to date on events in the life of the school, and teachers communicate often with parents regarding their child’s academic progress.
The doors open for parents to drop off their children at 7:45. The school day begins with prayer and pledges at 8:20 and ends at 3:45. Extended care is available before and after school for students in K3-5th grade.
A hot lunch is available for purchase each day. We are blessed to partner with Golden Corral for healthy, hot lunches. Families are also welcome to send lunch with their students, and microwaves are available for reheating food.
Students in K3-12th grade are required to wear uniforms. The uniform is a navy, red, or white polo with the NECA logo and khaki pants or skirts. Younger ladies are also allowed navy jumpers. The NECA logo is available for purchase from the school office and can be ironed on to any purchased uniform polo. NECA does not have a specific uniform provider, allowing parents to shop for the best deal on school uniforms. We believe in preparing students to compete with 21st century skills, but an increasing amount of research shows that excessive technology use in the classroom hinders rather supports learning. Our classrooms are equipped with smartboards, and students have access to a computer lab for all digital assignments, but students are not issued individual devices in our classrooms. Students use bound textbooks and are encouraged to take notes on paper. Younger students study cursive penmanship. Schools across the country are finding that limiting technology is resulting in better student outcomes and allowing teachers to better control the use of AI in the classroom.
Cell phones are not allowed from the start of the school day until dismissal. All students are required to check their phones in at the beginning of the day and receive them at dismissal. Students may call home using the school office, and parents can contact their students at any time throughout the day by calling the school secretary.
