At NECA, we believe all truth is God's truth, and all subjects are taught from a biblical worldview by teachers and staff passionate for Jesus and His Word. Our academic program is designed to challenge students to reach their God-given potential while preparing them for success in higher education, future careers, and faithful Christian service. The Abeka curriculum, respected for many years for its comprehensive academics and strong biblical worldview, is taught from K3 through 12th grade by deeply committed educators. Through it all, students are grounded in the Word of God, the source of all knowledge, and are encouraged to grow in their faith in Jesus.
Preschool
Preschool at NECA is a child's first experience of school, so it is built around warmth, structure, and repetition. Preschool lays the foundation for future learning through an emphasis on phonics and the fundamentals of math, science, social studies, and art. K3 offers a half-day or full-day program. K4 and K5 are full-day programs with plenty of time for naps, snacks, and play.
Elementary
Elementary builds on the foundation laid in preschool: reading with fluency, cursive penmanship, writing in complete thoughts, mathematics skills, and the study habits necessary for further learning. As early as first grade, students read complex passages and begin developing their cursive writing skills. Core subjects are taught in self-contained classrooms, with daily Bible instruction and chapel once a week. In sixth grade, students begin the important transition from elementary into middle school, developing independent study skills and increasing responsibility.
Secondary
Secondary students move into subject-based coursework and carry more responsibility for their own work. NECA continues with the Abeka curriculum through twelfth grade, with the exception of English which emphasizes quality literature, writing skills, and grammar. Students remain on the campus they already know, with teachers who have often taught them for years. Beyond the core subjects, students are given opportunities to explore their gifts through foreign languages, art, and music. The dual credit program in partnership with Howard Payne University and El Paso Community College, provides opportunities for even greater academic challenge and college preparation, allowing students to jump-start their higher education by earning college credit while still in high school.
