Students are not permitted to use a cell phone at school before or during the school day. After school, students should not use cell phones until they have left the school grounds.
Any use of a cell phone at school during school hours by a student will result in disciplinary action. If a student brings a cell phone to school, the cell phone must remain secured in the office and turned off. Cell phones will need to be turned in at the office prior to 8:00 AM and may be retrieved at 3:30 PM. Phones will be stored inside the office and students will have no access to them during the day.
If a student needs to do research they may bring their own laptop computer and use it with their teacher’s permission. Cell phones will not be used for research.
Failure to turn in a cell phone at 8:00 AM wil be subject to disciplinary action.
Parents who need to contact their child during the school day for emergency purposes should use the school’s normal emergency contact process and call the main school phone number (755-1155). School staff will assist parents in communicating with their child in appropriate emergency situations or pass messages as necessary. Parents should not consider their child’s cell phone as a means of contacting their child for any reason during the school day.
